Mr. Roger Chiasson grew up in his native Cape Breton and the province of Quebec before joining the Navy in 1960. He was a founding member of RCSCC Richelieu in Saint Jean Sur Richelieu, Quebec. In the latter years of his 38-year career he took great pleasure in acting as inspecting officer for various sea cadet corps in Quebec and Nova Scotia. Leadership, training and development have been a continuous thread in his life. He was responsible for junior officer training in the Naval Officer Training Centre, taught at the Canadian Forces Staff College, and attended both the Canadian Forces Command and Staff College and the National Defence College.

He served as the Engineering Officer of two Naval ships, commanded two Naval organizations overseeing the repair and construction of Naval ships, and commanded the Naval Dockyard in Halifax, where he established an excellent relationship with three labour unions, and led a very successful Total Quality Management initiative.

Since his retirement in as a Naval Captain1998, he has completed a broad range of consulting assignments, including authoring several chapters of marine technical manuals, conducting technical studies and business cases, participating in a number of organizational studies, and facilitating strategic reviews.

He maintains a continuing interest in, and a passion for, effective leadership and its impact on individual and organizational development.
